The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in German Linguistics and Didactics of Language. The position will be based in the School of Humanities. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Your field of work is German linguistics and language didactics, in which you have proven qualifications and substantial contributions in research and teaching. A focus on methods of empirical language research and linguistic heterogeneity is desirable.
- The professorship is equally divided between linguistics and language didactics and forms a link between these sub-disciplines, in which you will take on an equal share of teaching and examination tasks (including the supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses).
- You are internationally networked and have experience in conducting research projects.
- You are highly committed to the continuation of existing interdisciplinary research initiatives across disciplines and schools, e.g. those currently established in the profile lines “Education, Knowledge and Culture in Social Contexts” and “Language, Narrative and Edition”.
- In teaching, you offer an attractive range of courses for the Schools degree programmes. You are open to adopting and using modern teaching methods.
- You are responsible for the teaching-related degree programmes, in particular with a focus on primary school and special educational support, and participate in their further development.
- You have an interdisciplinary orientation and are willing to work in the Interdisciplinary Center for Language Teaching and Learning (Interdisziplinären Zentrum für sprachliches Lehren und Lernen, IZSLL).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed university degree in German (Master of Education, state examination in the teaching degree programme or equivalent)
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, a topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable.
- Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
- Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated by excellent performance in the appointment procedure
You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications, teaching experience, international cooperation and successful acquisition of third-party funding. Please enclose relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
