YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • The position is embedded in the Horizon Europe “Digichecks” project. In this project, a digital framework is developed for automatic rule checking on digital building models. The project consortium counts 14 member organizations from all over the EU, and has a duration of 36 months.
  • As part of the team “Digital Design Techniques” at the UGent Department of Architecture and Urban Planning (Faculty of Engineering and Architecture), you will be leading those Work Packages of the project where UGent is the lead beneficiary, responsible for the main technical decisions for the platform in terms of requirements, interoperability standards and the main data structures. In a later phase of the project, you will take part in the development of the platform, with a focus on the modules for converting and aligning heterogeneous building datasets.
  • Over the course of the project, you will actively participate in the communication of project results, with a focus on dissemination to the scientific community.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a thesis-based doctorate with a focus on digital technologies, ideally applied to the built environment;
  • You have a strong interest in applying and developing state-of-the-art techniques for automated rule checking
  • You take initiative and can work independently, focused on completing tasks within a predefined timeframe. In the broader scope of the project, you are also a team player with good communication skills
  • Experience with concepts such as Building Information Modelling is a plus;
  • You are proficient in English, both regarding speaking and writing skills;
  • You publish and present results both at international conferences and in scientific journals.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 7 months.
  • Your contract will start on 12/11/2024 at the earliest.
