Project

The Research Unit Accountancy, Finance and Insurance of the Faculty Economics and Business is looking for a doctoral researcher to investigate relevant topics within the field of external auditing and corporate governance.

Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
  • Conduct in-depth research on topics related to external auditing and/or corporate governance.
  • Collaborate with faculty members and other researchers on various research projects.
  • Participate in academic and departmental activities, including seminars, workshops, and (inter)national conferences.
  • Publish research findings in high-quality academic journals.
  • Assist in teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses as required by the department.
  • Assist in bachelor and/or master thesis guidance at campus Brussels.

Profile

  • You have a master's degree in Business Administration, (Applied) Economic Sciences, Business Engineering or an equivalent degree with good academic standing and a successful master thesis. You also need to meet the conditions described in sub-section 3 of the doctoral programme regulation available at the following link: https://admin.kuleuven.be/rd/doctoraatsreglement/en/phdregulation-feb#section-3. Note: we also consider candidates with a master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, IT, or a similar field, who demonstrate a strong interest in accounting and finance.
  • You have a great interest in scientific research and good statistical skills.
  • You are proficient in English and possess fluent writing skills.
  • You are capable of critically examining scientific literature.
  • You do not shy away from presenting and discussing research findings in public (e.g. scientific conference, seminars).
  • You are eager to learn and highly motivated to follow methodological courses.

Offer

A full time employment for 1 year, which can be extended to a maximum period of 4 years pending positive yearly evaluations. The candidate will be employed at Campus Brussels of the Faculty of Economics and Business of KU Leuven.
