The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) belongs to the „Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB)“. The FVB is an institution of eight natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz association.
The research groups of Structural Interactomics (the Liu lab) and Cellular Imaging (the Lehmann lab) at the FMP are seeking for a joint
PhD student in Biochemistry (m/f/d)
starting as soon as possible. The position is limited to 3 years.
The Liu lab is interested in using multi-disciplinary approaches that combine proteomics, cross-linking mass spectrometry, molecular biology, structural biology and bioinformatics to investigate the organizational aspects of protein assemblies and their biological consequences in the cell. The Lehmann lab runs the FMP Cellular Imaging Facility, develops live-cell and automated microscopy, FRET and super-resolution (dSTORM and STED) techniques and aims to understand the nanoscale organization of membrane remodeling and cellular junctions in cells and tissues. The scope of this position is to apply mass spectrometry-based technologies to investigate the proteome and interactome of the mitochondria. The mitochondrial membrane and newly identified proteins will be localized via super-resolution and electron microscopy and the function of selected proteins will be further dissected by combining CrispR, mass spectrometry, imaging and functional assays. We provide an international, innovative and interdisciplinary work environment, with access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and cellular imaging platforms as well as many other infrastructures at the FMP. The FMP graduate school offers continuous education. For further information, please visit www.theliulab.com and https://www.leibniz-fmp.de/core-facilities/cellular-imaging/lehmann/research.html.
We are looking for an independent, responsible, reliable, and flexible scientist with a master degree in biochemistry or related fields and a high personal motivation to excel in science. Candidates with a strong interest and experience in mass spectrometry and/or cellular imaging are especially encouraged to apply. An excellent command of the English language is required, equal opportunities regardless of gender and welcome applications of disabled candidates. They will be preferred in case of equal qualification. We welcome applications from all backgrounds
