Job offer No: 077/2017
The Institute of Polymer Materials at the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V. offers a Position for a Research Group Leader.
The Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V with its Institutes of Macromolecular Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Polymer Physics, Polymer Materials, Biofunctional Polymer Materials and Theory of Polymers is one of the leading institutes of polymer research in Germany. For the establishment of a junior research group in the department Mechanics and Structure of the Institute of Polymer Materials we are calling for applications for the position of the research group leader
Field of activity:
He/She shall establish a research group, which performs - based on the previous work of the department Mechanics and Structure - investigations of structural changes of polymers during deformation and fracture. The results shall be described by established or further developed approaches. Deformation experiments shall be coupled with synchrotron x-ray scattering experiments as well as thermography with high lateral as well as time resolution. An extension of the experiments into the sub-micron-range is preferable
PhD in physics or in materials science
Experimental experience in the field of the mechanical characterization of polymers as well as structural investigation, e.g. by means of synchrotron x-ray scattering, computer tomography, electron microscopy, AFM
It is expected, that the candidate will raise projects external funding for the establishment of his own working group and will publish the results of the work
