System -/ Application Administrator (Linux) (f/m/d)

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

​In the role as a Senior Systems Engineer Linux you’ll work in a team of internal and external resources to deliver business-critical backend services of SAL’s research network. You’ll closely collaborate with internal colleagues to ensure reliable and high-performing service delivery, whilst keeping an eye on upcoming demands and developments within the Linux community. You’ll like digging in the details if necessary but are confident to also discuss on a strategic level to further develop the big picture and future of the overall service architecture.
 
Your future responsibilities:

• Service Ownership
  You’ll be end-to-end responsible for the delivery and the development of a service. This includes technical development of the service according to the requirements of the stakeholders, market developments and technological innovation, ensuring reliable and high-performing service delivery in daily operations. You’ll feel confident in reporting, controlling and steering of the service specific KPIs.
• Innovation & Service Development
   The role includes the continuous development of the service and the challenging of the status quo. In order to ensure the service stays relevant and fitting to the requirements, the market developments, changing demands and new opportunities need to be monitored, evaluated and if proven to be promising implemented.
• Datacenter Strategy
  You’ll actively contribute to the continuous development of the datacenter strategy. You’ll find and implement new concepts and you adopt the overall directions to fit our company strategy, whilst following the latest industry developments. You’ll be inspired by other areas and you’ll actively question the status quo to come up with unique solutions.
• Customer Relationship
   You’ll support our internal customers in their IT related questions, solve their issues, and show them their possibilities to work with your solutions.

YOUR PROFILE​ ​ 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the IT area.
• Experience in data center and virtualization technologies.
• Strong analytical thinking skills and drive to improve and develop a whole area strategically.
• Collaborative and self-motivated personality with a can-do-attitude.
• Structured way of working, strong communication skills, solution oriented, team player.
• Good English skills, German skills are obligatory .

The following knowledge is an advantage

• Programming knowledge in Python.
• Experience with Gitlab, and Cisco products.
• Familiar with container solutions, such as Docker.
• Familiar with server virtualization, such as Xen / KVM.

​This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group F. For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with EUR 65.000 (annual, including overtime and bonus).
