The University of Konstanz with its “Institutional Strategy to promote Top-Level Research” has been receiving continuous funding since 2007 within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments.
The Chair of Colloid Chemistry is offering a

for a motivated student interested in gaining a Ph.D. in Chemistry. The contract is at first limited to two years with the possibility of an extension. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
The research project at the interface of colloid, polymer, and physical chemistry will include the following aspects: synthesis and surface modification of nanoparticles, development of strategies towards organized nanoparticle assemblies, and building hierarchically organized materials from nanoparticle assemblies. The research contributes to the Collaborative Research Center CRC 1214 of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The candidate should have a Master degree in Chemistry and knowledge in colloid or polymer science. Further requirements include the capability of conducting independent research, scientific writing, good communication skills in English, and amenability to work with project partners. Proficiency in German is advantageous but not a requirement. The successful candidate should show an exceptional level of motivation, and readiness to push a demanding research project forward.
