The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine – in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors.

The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various fields: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians; researchers from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary and together we contribute to science and society.

The Bioinformatics Core, led by Prof. Reinhard Schneider, is a team which focuses on managing and analysing complex biomedical and clinical data in translational research projects. We are internationally and nationally recognized for our GDPR compliant data hosting solutions and data management systems. We develop innovative methodologies for data mining, federated data analysis, and data FAIRification. We strongly advocate for responsible reproducible research (R3) principles and best practices in software development. For more information, please visit our website.

The position is part of the IDERHA project (Integration of heterogeneous Data and Evidence towards Regulatory and HTA Acceptance), funded by Innovative Health Initiative (IHI).

  • To ensure data quality, compliance with the FAIR data principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability) and alignment with emerging European Health Data Space (EHDS) requirements

What we expect from you…

  • A PhD in medical informatics, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedicine or similar, with an interest in translational research
  • Good knowledge of electronic medical records, clinical and translational data standards and analysis frameworks such as OMOP/OHDSI, FHIR/HL7, Open mHealth/IEEE, DICOM, ISO-TC215, PCHA or similar
