Besuchen Sie die ArbeitgeberseiteHoloGen is a MSCA Doctoral Network that will train the next generation of researchers in the emerging field of hologenomics. Microorganisms living in and on animal hosts impact nearly every biological process, and hologenomics aims to uncover how hosts and microbes interact. Understanding these interact will transform fields from basic biology to applied science in agrobiology, biomedicine, and more.
HoloGen brings together experts from 18 partners across Europe (universities, research institutes and industry), and will combine expertise in symbiosis biology, microbial ecology, computational biology, and other fields. The network will offer the successful candidates an unprecedented learning environment, including a common training program and research visits to both academic and industry partners.

The position is offered within the MSCA Doctoral Training Network and is fully funded for three years with an option for fourth year. HoloGen network is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network programme under grant agreement No. 101169005.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1-2 fully-funded fixed-term Doctoral Researcher positions in Computational Microbiome research at the research teams of Professor Leo Lahti and Adj. Prof. Aki Havulinna, University of Turku, Finland.
The positions are intended for full-time research towards PhD thesis. We work on a wide range of topics in computational microbiome research. The project aims to advance scientific understanding on the function and interactions of the human microbiome based on large-scale population cohorts. Different project areas are available related to the development and application of computational methods for population cohort studies and multi-omic data integration (e.g. metagenomics, genomics, metabolomics).
We blend approaches from statistics, machine learning, ecology, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and related fields. The key data sources include comprehensively phenotyped cohorts with up to tens of thousands of participants. You will work in close collaboration with key partners in Finland and abroad, with a unique opportunity to make pioneering work in a rapidly growing data-intensive research field. The project includes a secondment period in another team within this European doctoral network.

Our collaborators include several top universities in the world, allowing for excellent networking opportunities with leading researchers from a wide spectrum of fields. You will also have access to the state-of-the-art European supercomputing resources provided by the Finnish IT Center for Science (CSC).
The Department of Computing educates professionals for the modern digitalised society. Central themes of teaching and research include Digitalisation, Machine Learning, Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, Cybersecurity and Health Technology.
The Faculty of Technology is the newest faculty of the University of Turku, it was established in the beginning of 2021.
