YOUR TASKS

  • You contribute to an Industrial Research Valorisation and Acceleration (IRVA) project of Flanders Make about Cost-Sensitive Learning for Optimised Maintenance Strategies (COSTLEAP).
  • You develop both predictive and prescriptive models that integrate cost-sensitive learning to prioritise maintenance decisions based on their financial impact.
  • You apply advanced data science and big data techniques to process and analyse large volumes of operational and condition-monitoring sensor data.
  • You collaborate with industry partners to validate and apply these maintenance optimisation models.
  • You contribute to academic publications and present research findings to both academic and industry audiences.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a Ph.D. in Business Economics, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong Python coding skills, with experience using data science (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn) and optimisation (e.g., PuLP, PyGAD, pymoo) libraries.
  • Experience in cost-sensitive learning, machine learning, and optimisation techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and industry partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and business-oriented mindset.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a fulltime contract of definite duration for the period of 2 years.
  • Your contract will start on 1/01/2025 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a Ph.D.).  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
