A PhD position is available within the research group Language, Education & Society (part of the Linguistics Research Unit) to investigate the role and effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in foreign language education.
The research group Language, Education & Society conducts research on language acquisition in all its facets and on the characteristics of effective language teaching and learning.
Project
How can artificial intelligence enhance foreign language education?
In this PhD project, you will investigate how AI can be used to better support the development of French speaking and writing skills in secondary education. Although AI is increasingly being used to support the learning of productive language skills, empirical evidence regarding its effectiveness in foreign language education remains limited. In this project, we will specifically investigate AI-driven differentiated instruction for both speaking and writing skills. The aim is to generate scientifically grounded insights into the added value of AI for personalized learning and the integration of technology in foreign language education. In doing so, the project seeks to contribute to both educational practice and policy in the field of digitally supported language learning.
