In the Department of Mathematics, in the ‘Poisson Geometry’ research group led by Dr Ioan Marcut, two PhD positions (f/m/x) are available within the research area ‘Linearization and Deformations of Poisson Structures’.

YOUR TASKS

  • Collaboration on research projects in the field of ‘Linearization and deformations of Poisson structures’. Dissertation topics may arise from the research results.
  • Teaching obligation to the extent of 2.6 hours per week during the semesters (2.6 SWS)
  • Support in the organization of research seminars, workshops and conferences

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master‘s degree in a mathematics programme completed by the start of employment
  • In-depth knowledge of differential geometry, proven e.g. by a Master‘s thesis in a subfield of differential geometry
  • Knowledge of Poisson geometry, Lie theory, symplectic geometry, theory of PDEs and functional analysis is also highly desirable
  • Openness and enthusiasm to learn new mathematics
  • Knowledge of German or willingness to learn German is required

The positions are available from 01.10.2024 on a parttime basis (26,29 hours per week). The positions are to be filled for a fixed term until 30.09.2028. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
