About the FHSE

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.
People from across 20 disciplines are working within the
Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.

This doctoral research position is connected to the new BODYLINES project, recently funded by the Luxembourg Fond National de la Recherche, and embedded within the University of Luxembourg's Department of Education and Social Work.

BODYLINES is an innovative project that transforms our understanding of how patients, donors, and their families experience transplantation processes and how structural inequalities - shaped by gender, caregiving obligations, and cross-border care - affect their lived experiences. The project adopts a gender-sensitive, intersectional, and phenomenological approach to explore how individuals navigate transplantation across social, geographical, and institutional borders and how these processes shape their identities, relationships, and well-being.

Your role

  • Conducting original research related to the experiences of organ donation/transplantation from a gender perspective
  • Organizing field access to patients/donors and families
  • Collaborating with the stakeholders in the project (advisory board, colleagues, medical professionals)
  • Participating in the collection and analysis of data related to the BODYLINES project
  • Co-authoring and authoring scientific articles/policy briefs for publication and dissemination
  • Disseminating results at international scientific conferences
  • Organising and participating in project-related events
  • Collaborating with the team of the PI and Institute for Social Research and Interventions
  • Contributing to an international and multilingual environment
