About the FHSE

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.
People from across 20 disciplines are working within the
Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.

The candidate will be a member of the Department of Humanities and the Research Institute of Multilingualism and participate to its activities. The interdisciplinary ProMulti team composed of Dr. Claudine Kirsch and Dr. Mélanie Wagner from the University of Luxembourg, Dr. Sophie Pilleron from Luxembourg Institue of Health, two doctoral researchers and our national and international partners.

Your role

  • Collaborate actively in the interdisciplinary ProMulti team
  • Support the research team in data collection. Use qualitative research methods - e.g.: observations, interviews - to investigate young multilingual children's language practices at home and in educational or healthcare settings as well as the parents' and professionals' beliefs and practices
  • Contribute to the translation of documents, organization of data and data analysis, e.g.: transcription, analysis
  • Assist the project team with day‑to‑day management and the organization of research activities
  • Contribute to research articles with research team

Your profile

  • Master's degree in educational sciences, linguistics or psychology
  • Understanding of language learning and experience of doing qualitative research
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of and interest in the development of multilingualism
  • Proficiency in Luxembourgish (C1), French (C1) and at least one additional language is mandatory as data is collected in Luxembourg
