The Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, one of the leading centers for interdisciplinary research in public security matters in Europe, is organized in three research departments: criminal law, criminology, and a brand-new department of public security law. We are now looking for a
to be based in Freiburg i.Br., starting as soon as possible.
Your tasks will be to design, implement, and run medium- and long-term initiatives for recruiting excellent PhD / doctoral researchers and postdocs world-wide for the Freiburg Institute and the Max Planck Law network.
Liaise with distinguished law schools and universities worldwide
Coordinate with the most important national and international funding organizations
Identify and use the most promising job placement and recruiting strategies
Establish a network of high-profile researchers and administrators in the field of public security law, criminal law, and criminology
Cooperate closely with and cater to the recruitment needs of partnering Max Planck Institutes involved in Max Planck Law
A degree in law, social sciences or humanities
Knowledge of the international research landscape
Practical experience in science communication, web knowledge, social media, and SEO
International experience from studying or working abroad
Excellent language proficiency in English
High degree of self-reliance and initiative
Team-worker with very good communication skills and intercultural competence
Experience in academic recruitment would be a strong asset
Freiburg is a vibrant, traditional German university town with a 900-year history, an international atmosphere, and high recreational value. It is located in the border region of Southwest Germany, France, and Switzerland. A project based fix-term contract for initially five years. A full or part time contract is possible. Remuneration is regulated according to the federal tariff agreement for the public sector (TVöD); it includes all mandatory social insurances such as health care, unemployment, and retirement.
